Call for Story Friday submission for 'Home' theme, deadline 26th February 2018
Published: 25 December 2017 | by Clare Reddaway
We had a great time at a very scary Story Friday Haunting recently, with some magnificent stories from a wide selection of writers both new to Story Fridays and old hands who we were pleased to welcome back.
We have a bit of a gap until Story Friday Home in March - perhaps you can use that time to write us some particularly special offerings! Oh, and celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year and all that, of course...!!
Our theme in March is HOME. Home is where the heart is. It’s all hygge, mugs of hot chocolate and unconditional love. Or is it? Home might be a castle, or a box and a blanket on a street corner. Home might conjure up emotions of warmth and happiness, or of anger and sorrow. Home is…complicated. Where will ‘home’ take you?
Story Friday Home will be on 9th March, 2018. Deadline for submissions is Monday 26th February.
SUBMISSION DETAILS: For Story Fridays we are looking for short stories or monologues, fact or fiction (but mainly fiction), maximum 2,000 words. If you want to enter a flash piece that can work too. No poetry, thank you.
The event will be held on Friday 9th March at Burdall's Yard in Bath. Please check that you are available to come along on the 9th March before you submit. We like the writers to be in the audience for these events.
We have some wonderful professional actors who are very happy to read your story if performance gives you the jitters. Olly Langdon of Kilter Theatre (who is also our brilliant host) will read a male voice, and we have a number of actresses who can read stories which need a female voice. Let me know in your email when you submit if you'd like someone else to read your piece.
Story Fridays is currently an unpaid opportunity.
