Story Fridays: Solstice

Story Fridays: Solstice
I know I always say this - but we REALLY DID have some SMASHING stories on Friday at Story Friday Fools.  You can listen to them here if you weren't lucky enough to be there: http://www.awordinyourear.org.uk/storyfridayarchive/fools-april/

We had a lovely audience bursting out of Burdall's, and everyone (particularly me) was highly amused by the whoopee cushions and the blackberry fools in shot glasses.  So, onwards to the height of summer and SOLSTICE!

Story Friday Solstice is on June 17th.  The deadline is 6th June, so you've a while to think about it.  Stories about suns and summer, Stonehenge and ... well... the universe?  Let's hope the weather behaves appropriately....  Submission details below.

WORKSHOPS:
Clare Reddaway is running a regular Story Friday workshop on Saturday 7th May from 10.00-1.00 at Bath Central Library. We will be particularly focussing on endings. Cost £5.00.

There are only a few places left on this workshop so book soon if you want to come. Clare is also running a whole day workshop on Saturday July 2nd, which will include writing exercises and tips, and one-to-one editorial feedback.

For more information go to: www.awordinyourear.org.uk/workshops/.  To book, contact Clare.

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
We are looking for short stories or monologues, fact or fiction (but mainly fiction), maximum 2,000 words. If you want to enter a flash piece that can work too. No poetry, thank you.

The event will be held on Friday 17th June 2016 at Burdall's Yard in Bath. Deadline for submissions is Monday 6th June.  Please check that you are available to come along on the 17th June before you submit.  We like the writers to be in the audience for these events.

Two wonderful professional actors, Olly Langdon and Caroline Garland of Kilter Theatre, are very happy to read your story if performance gives you the jitters.  Let me know in your email when you submit if you'd like someone else to read your piece.

We are now paying a small 'thank you' gratuity of £10 to any writer whose story is chosen.  So go wild!

Do email me at clare.reddaway@btinternet.com, give me a ring on 01225 428 469 or go to the website www.awordinyourear.org.uk if you'd like more information.  If you want to know what kind of stories we enjoy, have a listen to some of the readings at previous Story Fridays which are available on the website.

Story Fridays are run by Clare Reddaway of A Word In Your Ear and Olly Langdon and Caroline Garland of Kilter Theatre.
