2016 International Day Of The Girl Conference set for 28 October

2016 marks the 5th year Anniversary of the United Nations International Day of the Girl. The theme for the 2016 International Day of the Girl focuses on adolescent girls and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The team at the Justina Mutale Foundation are delighted to invite you to commemorate their Anniversary, as well as the 2016 United Nations International Day of the Girl, at European Parliament in the UK at Europe House, 32 Smith Square, London SW1P 3EU, on Friday 28 October 2016, from 5.00 – 8.30 p.m.
Under the theme, "EUROPE TOWARDS 2030: The Adolescent Girl in the Sustainable Development Goals", the Summit will discuss the role of Europe in achieving the sustainable development goals, with special focus on the need for the adolescent girl to play an integral part to constructively engage and participate in the process.
It is hoped that the Summit can provide a space and an avenue for delegates and participants to understand how women and girls are affected by each of the 17 proposed goals of the SDGs.
The Conference will share information on the state of girls around the world with regional reports on the UK/Europe, Africa and other parts of the World.
They will also address Ideas, Realities, Challenges, Opportunities, and Responsibilities in raising the voices of the adolescent girl in the achievement of the sustainable development goals.
The United Nations International Day of the Girl, is held annually to promote girls' rights, highlight the gender inequalities that remain between girls and boys and address the unique challenges that girls face worldwide.
