Lindsey Kate Kerslake's timeless designs have an ethereal and timeless beauty and in an interview with OneVybe, she spoke about how she decided to study Apparel Design and Construction because she had an interest in fashion from a young age and has always been creative.
On what inspired her final collection at the the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David, Lindsey told OneVybe: "I was inspired by the 1920s style film, The Great Gatsby. I wanted to re-invent the 'classics' found in Daisy Buchanan’s wardrobe.

"I mixed classic, iconic shapes from the twenties and transformed
them in to a modern capsule collection. I extended my inspiration to
looking closely at gems and crystal which had an impact on my own prints
and colour palette.
"I wanted my collection to have a 1920s feel to it but with a contemporary twist.
"I enjoy working with luxurious fabrics which also compliment the overall look of the garment.
"My final collection was made from a variation of silks, particularly sand wash silk as I loved the lavish feel and look."

For
Lindsey, inspiration comes from a wide range of places and these
include everyday life, different fashion eras and architecture and she
particularly likes Art Deco buildings.
"I also design
differently depending on the muse, I love to design to compliment a
woman's body, as different garments suit the vast variety of body shapes
in our society," she said.
"I like to design garments which the customer will feel amazing in, my designs tend to be full of colour with quirky prints.

"I adore creating prints in luxurious fabrics, I feel this is where I can showcase my creativity at its best.
"It
is so exciting how free and elaborate prints can be and how they
transform garments. I tend to design the majority of my prints digitally
using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator."
Lindsey said when she designs, she has in mind a woman aged between 25-35 who enjoys standing out because of her bold prints.

Lindsey
is now studying for her PGCE to teach Textiles and she said that she
enjoys passing her skills to students and is still designing and making
clothes in her spare time.
"I thoroughly enjoyed studying
Textiles at GCSE and A Level and this is where my passion for designing
and making kicked in," she said.
"I decided to continue Fashion as a degree as this would allow me to express my passion further."
The
fashion designer said: "I am in the process of creating garments for a
fellow friend and graduate, Kai Stewart for her website 'JaXXon House'.

"Ideally, I would love to teach and alongside that carry on designing and making garments and set up a small business.
"I
am grateful that I have studied this particular fashion degree as it
opened my eyes to the world of the fashion industry. It was an intense
three years but it prepared me and gave me an insight to how competitive
the industry is. But with determination and unique ideas your dreams
can come true."
