Fun and colourful Meme Bete bags for the woman who wants to stand out from the crowd

Meme Bete stole the show at the AFWL 2016 garnering some appreciative cheers from the ladies in the audience. The designer, Taribba do Nascimento from St. Lucia, charmed everyone with a little twerk at the end of her show and that gave a glimpse into the light-hearted humour that goes into her work.
Taribba started designing bags in 2009, and it was largely as a side venture to make some extra money but the label, Meme Bete, has since grown into a fully-fledged business and has become her main source of income.
Meme Bete targets a niche market and Taribba says the beauty of it is that she is able to give her customers some valuable attention.
The designer is fortunate in that she gets to enjoy what she does for a living and in an interview with OneVybe she said: "The best part about designing is being able to have an outlet for my creativity on a daily basis. I love that everyday is a new challenge and new vision and a new opportunity to share new ideas."
On what inspires her, Taribba said, "I am inspired by the vibrant
colours of the Caribbean. Meme Bete bags are always fun and colourful,
even if it is work bag, we encourage people to live a vibrant chic
life."
Meme Bete bags are focused on practicality and simplicity
and have "just enough flair to give your outfit a pop!" Taribba adds.
The bags are ideal for everyone but particularly working women looking
for a unique statement piece.
"They are daring women who want to stand out from the crowd," says
Taribba, "The response has been great so far, I would like to reach out
to more international customers and I am hoping my new online store will
do just that."
On her plans for the future, Taribba said that she plans to branch out into menswear as she sees a gap in that market. For the immediate future however, she is bracing herself for a busy Christmas season following her successful show at the AFWL 2016.
She told OneVybe, "I have been a fan of AFWL for quite some time and was amazed at how well organised the show was. I never felt quite ready until this year."
