A preview of the current collection of Threaderick backpacks
Threaderick designer Nicola Chalkley told OneVybe: "I have always been interested in re-purposing, recycling and reinventing things to create new and exciting items.
"But through my degree studies I discovered the true implications of producing and disposing our fast-fashion high street purchases.
"Not only the harsh environmental factors of chemically laden fabrics, but also the social effects on the communities including sweatshop labour, where our low cost clothing and fashion items are produced.
"And long after these items have left our wardrobes, they predominately end up on a landfill site."
The backpacks are fully lined in quality satin fabrics
On how she decided to go the upcycling route, Nicola said, "I have researched the negative factors of the production of fast-fashion to a great extent, and believe not only do we need to produce environmentally and social friendly clothing as standard products, we also need to consider the life of these fabrics beyond the original use."
For those who want an even more unique look, Threaderick do great bespoke designs.
