BAWR helping empower women

Lindani Moyo Masuku, an inspirational entrepreneur based in the UK, founded Black African Women Rock (BAWR) in 2013 to provide a platform for women to help each other grow.
Lindani, in an interview with OneVybe, said that regardless of how hard thing may get, women need to keep pushing and moving. "Black African Women Rock is a platform to inspire and motivate women to pursue with their dreams or vision. I was inspired by the lack of support within our African community as women."
From her experiences, Lindani felt she could help provide that support and she was inspired by her mother and grandmother. She particularly credits her grandmother as someone who is outspoken and will stand up for what she believes is right for herself and her family.
BAWR reaches out to women in various ways, including social media, networks, seminars and workshops that the organisation will soon be running.
"I do a lot of one to one communication with women who need help with starting up, who lack self confidence and lack self esteem and the power and strength to pursue their dreams," says Lindani.

According to Lindani, some of the challenges she has come across include men who do not fully understand the work of BAWR.
"They
feel the organisation is empowering them to be the bosses of the homes
and overpower their husbands," Lindani laughs. "That's not the case,
BAWR is here to help families to grow."
The aim of the
organisation is to empower women to be able to also provide for their
families thereby bringing multiple incomes into the household.
BAWR is currently working on the first ever BAWR Awards, which will be held in Woking, Surrey, Holiday Inn.
Ticket sales, including votes, will close on the 16th of November 2014.
