OneVybe Magazine caught up with singer, songwriter and actress Bekaa Maphosa who has managed to pack quite a lot into her young life.
The 18-year old is currently working on her upcoming single 'Show me the way,' which is coming out in July.
Music has always been a big part of Bekaa's life and she says, "I started singing when I was as young as 3 but only began to take it to a professional level when I was 16, debuting with the single 'Wish I Knew.'

"Before music, precisely when I was 12, I worked as a professional
dancer for a group called Ablaze, operating as one of the choreographers
and when we broke off in 2012, I made a decision to pursue my talent
and love for singing."
"I am also an actress, I have covered
songs for the likes of Jennifer Hudson (Spotlight) South African Dj Sbu
(Remember when it rained) and Rihanna (Diamonds), which I released last
April and is one of my best.
Even though the singer is based in the UK, she has a lot of love for Africa and is very much connected with the continent.

Bekaa told
OneVybe: "'Show me the way,' is about African culture, love and unity.
"It
shows the struggles and the pain that we go through as a continent,
deemed as poor but yet the people are wealthy in humanity, good will and
character.
As it is set in an African village, I am portrayed
as a conscience, a messenger of the people and the reason for this is
because my aim as a singer/musician is to inspire, encourage and display
the trueness of Africa; and as lover of diversity, my music also aims
to unite us as beings."
Bekaa's other work includes performances at the Indigo 02 in London, Coventry, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Surrey.
In
April 2014 she performed in the UK and Ireland alongside South African
heavyweights Heavy K and Professor on their 'Beautiful War' Tour.

Bekaa, a devout Christian, is now preparing to go to university.
Bekaa
told OneVybe: "As I have recently finished my A levels, I am going to
university this year because I want a degree. I love music but I have
the brains and I need to understand the music business in a deeper
level.
"I am young but I will make a difference. God has great
things planned for me and I am ready for the sleepless nights, the
mental blocks and constant travelling because singing has gone beyond
being a dream, I am slowly turning it into reality and believe me, I
will get there."
It is all not work for the ambitious young lady
though. She says she loves "reading (I am a book freak) exercising,
annoying my siblings, shopping, chilling, laughing (only because I think
I'm a comedian) and having a good time."
OneVybe will give an update when Bekaa's upcoming single comes out.
