US based singer, Thulani has been making waves online with the video for his new song 'Bata Musoro,' which has racked thousands of views in just a few days.
As a youngster, the talented singer listened to a variety of genres and
in an interview with OneVybe he said, "My dad had a huge LP collection
and every morning before primary school, I'd play song selections from
artists ranging from Peaches & Herb to Thomas Mapfumo."
"I
just loved music that much, I joined the church choir and when I
realised I could harmonise and/or carry a note or two, the desire to
sing was birthed."
"I released my first album in 2010 - Life Chronicles Article I, which was well received in the Dallas community."
Despite
the usual challenges in his journey, Thulani, who says he is probably
'the biggest Chelsea F.C fan in the world,' values quality and was not
willing to sacrifice that.
He told OneVybe that in the last 4
years he has learned a lot about music production and rightly says that
there is no substitute for a quality product.

Thulani has always loved music and he told OneVybe: "I learned how to play guitar and piano when I was 12, the same year I penned my first song."
"I
participated in music competitions, sang in church, wrote songs for
upcoming artists, all of this serving as a sharpening platform to propel
my own material."
Describing his music, Thulani said, "My music is
unpredictable stylistically because it is sourced from many schools, but
I deliberately try to fuse Zimbabwean culture with all the different
genres I produce."
The singer, now based in Dallas, Texas, grew up in Mutare, Zimbabwe, and moved to the U.S after high school.
He has since graduated from the University of Texas System but Zimbabwe is still a big part of what he does.
He said "I feel like I have the responsibility to take Zimbabwean music outside its own borders. I want other cultures to appreciate and embrace our own.
"So I am consciously aware of this when I make a beat or write a song - Is it marketable outside Zimbabwe? Is it catchy to other cultures other than mine? Is the mixing & mastering at the same level as other international acts etc."
