Newcomers Beatenberg cleaned up at the South African Music Awards after winning Album of the Year, Duo or Group of the Year and Best Pop Album awards.

Bucie feat Heavy K - Easy to Love AfroPop singer Bucie won her first award, taking home Best Female Artist for her fourth album Princess of House (Easy To Love). She said she didn't expect to win.

Black Motion walked off with their first award, Best Dance, for their
third album, Fortune Teller featuring the hit song Rainbow.
Black Motion - Rainbow feat. Xoli M Professor won Best Kwaito Album and other winners included AKA and Cassper Nyovest, Maleh and DJ Sbu.
Among
the highlights were an on-stage collaboration between AKA, Duncan and
Mdu Masilela, another cross-genre featuring Simphiwe Dana and Kurt
Darren and a rock-meets-rap mash-up featuring Prime Circle and Cassper
Nyovest.
